The Legend.

Galatians

5:22-23

22 But the fruit of the Spirit is love, joy, peace, forbearance, kindness, goodness, faithfulness,23 gentleness and self-control. Against such things there is no law.

This week is all about God’s whispers. The reading last Sunday was this story and Elijah. God doesn’t always speak loudly with fires, earthquakes, tornados, storms, tsunamis and wildfires. Sometimes and most times it is a whisper.

I was painting on the bridge yesterday and what God calls Walnut Ridge when a man named Elijah, literally, stopped to see and speak. His shirt literally said 2-14-2026 on the front with a red heart. My whole pilgrimage last year was for Agnes Dei and Christ led me with little red hearts. The apartment I live in now even had one at the door, on the floor. As you might know, Eric died on 2-14 (Valentine’s Day) so the significance of this man’s shirt was astounding. God’s whisper is loud. God doesn’t have to shout to make noise. God doesn’t have to destroy things to change things. In fact, one thing God loves to do is Uplift His People.

A man who loves me dearly, a beautiful soul from the current community, gave me 6 pencils at dinner tonight and a big ol hug. Two of the six pencils were of Care Bear design with rainbows. If you don’t know who the Care Bears are please look them up. The significance of this all goes way deep.
God gave me a prayer that said don’t quit and it had a pencil on it. This might have been a couple of years ago now. Care Bears to me stand for joy. Don’t quit on your joy.

As I was shopping in one of the free closets today I found a shirt with the Fruits of the Spirit.

These things names above were enough to convince me of God’s Powerful Whispers. May you hear them too and may they be of peace.

in Jesus’ name. Amen.
