I went to a Community Kitchen/Pantry tonight and here was the sequence of events:
- Me: I would like something that isn’t expired. (This was at the counter where 1 person is able to receive 2 items)
- Volunteer: Nothing is expired here.
- Me: I received those chips the other day and those are expired.
- Volunteer: Let me see. Yes. Expired in August but they are still good.
- Me: Just be quiet to the comment “They are still good.”
- Volunteer: ‘Checking another item’ Yes. Expired in August.
- Volunteer: “Checking another item’ Yes. Expired in April.
- Volunteer: ‘Checking another item’ These aren’t expired. She was correct.
- Me and my Spirit team aka God: Good job. You proved the point. Walk away now.
I also served aka volunteered at a different community kitchen and before I realized it I was serving expired whipped cream.
How many community kitchens are serving expired food and cooking it without saying a word? I bet most. I won’t assume though. I will volunteer at them and personally let you know.
So far: Community Kitchen in Jeffersonville, IN serves expired food.
More to come.
Jesus, I apply your blood to all community kitchens and food pantries that are serving and cooking up expired foods and turning a blind eye. May their eyes be opened and their mouths be forced to only serve up to date healthy food. Thank you. Amen.
