Milk. Comfort.

Milk. A Comfort in Time of Need.

Milk is a key to comfort for those of us in need. We had it when we were babies, maybe that’s why. It helps heal our Mother wounds as adults. I’m sure that’s it. πŸ™‚

Tonight the community meal held at an Episcopal Church was led by the Providence Pioneers. A group of young adults with a few elders who were kind and simple.

They cooked us beef stew, yummy bread, coleslaw and cupcakes. They had water and coffee AND FRESH STORE BOUGHT MILK! The expiration dates were November 20th and 23rd! I made sure to tell them what my previous experiences have been at community meals with MILK and how appreciative I was to drink it fresh.

For example, God had me praying the rosary and marched me right into the Jeffersonville Community Kitchen just to ask them what date of milk they were giving everyone to drink a couple weeks ago. I literally walk in, go to the milk station, ask them the date, they show me that it’s expired, I said, β€œThat’s expired.” He frowned. I marched right back out. Mic drop moments.

Here’s the thing. When telling one of the volunteers tonight about receiving expired milk at other community meals her response was simple. That’s gross. Thank you. Yes. No one likes to drink spoiled milk. Stop giving it to the people! In Jesus’ name, Amen.
